Zoom Security
Use of Zoom Video Conferencing
First Command takes the safeguarding of our clients’ personal information seriously. To this end, we have implemented numerous additional security measures for your Zoom experience:
- We will only use the Enterprise version of Zoom for conference calls.
- We have DISABLED and LOCKED the following settings:
- Join before host. (Participants will not be able to join the meeting before the host arrives and starts the meeting.)
- Chat and private chat.
- File share/document sharing.
- Session recording.
- Allow removed participants to rejoin.
- We have ENABLED and LOCKED the following settings:
- Waiting room for all participants. (Host must admit all participants to a meeting.)
- Require a password (which will be randomly generated) for all new scheduled, scheduled with Personal Meeting ID (PMI), and instant meetings.
- Play sound when participants join or leave the meeting. (Note: Sound plays for the host only.)
- Identify guests in meeting. (Zoom will indicate in the participant list any participant who is not part of the account.)
- Screen sharing to be managed by host only. (Note: As needed, the host can enable screen sharing for each participant in the meeting.)
Additionally, we remind service members and Department of Defense (“DOD”) civilians that they should not use Zoom on government devices such as computers and cellphones which are intended for official business use, per DOD guidance. Zoom videoconferencing with First Command should be done from non-government devices only.
Please speak with your Advisor if you have further questions regarding First Command’s use of Zoom.
